Message from the City Manager

Welcome to the City of the Village of Clarkston, a unique historic Mill Village nestled right in the middle of Independence Township. A large portion of the village has been given a National Historic Designation by the Federal Government. Strolling through the residential City and commercial districts is a feast for the eyes! Beautifully maintained historic homes with meticulously groomed yards and gardens create the old fashioned home town feel. In a sense we are still "small town". Rocking chairs sit on porches and people stroll most evenings...won't you join us in a leisurely after dinner walk?

Beyond the historic buildings and our rich history are the citizens of Clarkston. We are a community in the truest sense of the word. People care here, speak up, volunteer and participate. We have the traditional town parades on Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. The strains of music drift through the City on Friday nights in the Summer, coming from the "Concerts in the Park" music series that occur here for six weeks every summer. Hundreds of people wander down to the park with picnic baskets and lawn chairs...it's time to slow down and enjoy life.

If you come for a visit don't forget to wander through our downtown shops. Shop keepers here define personal service, they are places where clerks actually chat doing their best to make you feel like you're one of the family.

Experience Clarkston!
